Systemic constellation
Change happens all the time within systems, in families, organisations and cultures. In order to kick start something new, the smallest first step may be the hardest. Yet, once the process has started, it’s like a stone thrown into water, creating circular ripples and new patterns of movement.
A systemic constellation may help you to determine that first small step needed to head into a new direction. During a constellation internal representations of the world are catapulted to the outside and so you become aware of the hidden dynamics and repeated patterns in your life and how these affect you.
Constellations in therapy were originally used to help clients externalize their family system. Later this idea was adapted for externalizing oranganizational dynamics, conflict in teams and health challenges.
The constellation process is usually done in groups with real-life representatives. This can be a powerful experience, enabling you to gain a fresh view of hidden relationship dynamics and your life purpose. Working with objects can be useful for individual work and with children. Experiencing a constellation process helps clients become more aware of the unconsicous wealth of knowledge in their bodies, as the feelings coming up as participants are positioned in space, can be powerful indeed.
There are multiple benefits of this approach. It can:
- support you in viewing your situation from different perspectives
- inspire you how to implement potential change
- heighten your sense of self-worth and agency
- assist you in understanding complex family systems, which may be linked to disability, chronic disease, psychosomatic symptoms, separation, adoption and fostering.
